Question about security in JXTA.

I noticed that there is a security package for jxta at
http://security.jxta.org.  However it seems this project hasn't been
updated for over 2 years, so I assume it is no longer compatible with the
latest release of jxta.  I am making a program that needs to use encrypted
communication.  My question is "is there an updated version of the jxta
security package, if there is where do I find it?, and if not is it best
to use the classes from javax.crypto package?
