It has been done. Think of it in terms of a codec connected to a  
socket pipe. However, because we do not have QoS, there is no way to  
guarantee bandwidth or latency, so the best solution is to pick the  
lowest bandwidth codec. It would be advisable also to use a private  
network with tuned relays that can handle the number of streams you  
expect to use in your network.
