How to analyse the source code

hi,I want to analyse the source code of myjxta,but when i get the implement
version,document version ,and src version,i do not know which one is worth to
analyse,my experience is few,please tell me ,and i find there are a lot of file
catalog in the the file catalog of myjxta(myjxta-2.3.4\src\net\jxta\myjxta)
,please tell me how to analyse the project,is not the way that i first analyse the
main.java,then i analyse the about file referenced in main.java,read this source
code step by step ?thanks you.
