Hello, my name is Stephen Munro and I am currently doing my honours year at 
Caledonain university.  My project is to be research based and I would like 
to investigate the usage of JXTA for p2p systems.  My project questions ask:

What benefits would JXTA being to a peer-to-peer project that is unavailable 
using traditional methods?

How extendable is JXTA?

Will JXTA suit any p2p purpose of is it very specific

How scalable are systems developed in JXTA?

How reliable are systems developed in JXTA?

Does JXTA allow developers to build P2P systems more efficiently?

What is the future of JXTA and P2P systems?

Also I am to formulate a hypothesis as part of my research.


Hypothesis (1)

JXTA provides developers with a way to develop massively scalable systems.

Approach

Develop a JXTA application that will run on two types of peers, PC and 
mobile.  Both applications will be developed in the Java language and the 
mobile peers shall run on an appropriate mobile emulator.

Hypothesis (2)

JXTA allows developers to build P2P systems efficiently.

Approach

Create a survey and submit it to various programmers who have worked with 
JXTA and use the feedback gathered to determine whether or not JXTA is 
indeed a more efficient way of developing peer-to-peer systems.


I have read that I am required to request membership for using JXTA.  I 
would like to ask if it is fine that I proceed with my research and if there 
are any rules and regulations (other than the ones stated on jxta.org) that 
I must abide by?

Secondly, If i do make use of the second hypothesis, I will be required to 
ask developers to complete some sort of survey for why they use JXTA?  Would 
it be acceptable for me to submit this survey to your group for completing?

I do dont want to be a pest or anything.  It's just the rules and 
regulations of the University are strict and I do not want to walk away with 
a low mark for my project.
