One more small thing.  Could we have a trial period for a week or two 
before releasing the JARs? It does put the burden on us committers to 
give it a whirl, but when we release we hopefully will find less issues 
that will immediately require a bumping of versions (even though it 
will, by the very act of the splitting, be less work :-)) and re-release.
