Micro-workflow engine suggestion

I have been spending some time on trying to find a micro workflow option and I think this one seems a good option (presentation):

It doesn't have the BPEL baggage and seems to be quite functional, tell me if you have other suggestions.
 
I did look at OpenSymphony and JBPM (no designer UI) and few others and this one makes more sense from the re-usability point of view.
 
Of course the objective is to abstract out the workflow as a service so we can plugin diff workflow engines (quite difficult until JSR 207, 208 comes along).
