Hibernate hbm.xml config and xdoclet tags

Hi all.  Is there a way for me to use my existing hbm.xml config files, 
without having to update my pojos with the @persist tags?

I've tried placing them "strategically" in my conf/server folder, and in 
my entity (pojo) folder, to no avail.  Just wondering what and if there 
was a trick for that.  Surely you don't want me to RETYPE all that info! LOL
