Great choice. I'm sure it will be a great learning
experience. Welcome to the future.

As far as I know J2ME doesn't use AWT but a different
UI toolkit.

I suggest using the J2ME UI toolkit as Swing or AWT
are memory hogs and won't run on mobile phones any
time soon.

I suggest instead of extending Luxor to rip it
apart, that is to say, build your own little XUL
engine from scratch reusing as much code as possible
from Luxor (using time-proven cut and paste) and don't
be afraid to throw away the stuff you don't need.

You might also wonna look into other available
open-source XUL/XML UI motors. I keep a link
collection at
http://luxor-xul.sourceforge.net/post/links.html

For small XUL/XML UI engines you might wonna check out
Swix or Thinlets.

Once you have a prototype I'm happy to promote it at
"The Saturn Times" and upload/add it to the Luxor
contrib site at
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=64067
to pave your way to world fame.
