  I suggest using SWT instead of AWT. To get started
you might wonna use Martin Weindel's Luxor SWT
prototype.

  I will start work on an SWT (aka Eclipse UI) port
this summer for Eldorado.

    Sure. Just replace the Swing stuff with AWT.
