Open-Source License Options Explained

Hi,

  before the Luxor licensing discussion gets out of
hand and gets everybody confused, I invite you to
check out the excellent Creative Commons site.

  A good place to start is the "Licenses Explained"
page @ http://www.creativecommons.org/learn/licenses/
showing what conditions/terms copyright owner can use
for their work e.g.:

  * Attribution. You let others copy, distribute,
display, and perform your copyrighted work — and
derivative works based upon it — but only if they give
you credit.

  * Noncommercial. You let others copy, distribute,
display, and perform your work — and derivative works
based upon it — but for noncommercial purposes only.

  * No Derivative Works. You let others copy,
distribute, display, and perform only verbatim copies
of your work, not derivative works based upon it.

  * Share Alike. You allow others to distribute
derivative works only under a license identical to the
license that governs your work.


  The open-source (=creative commons) license choosen
by Luxor is known as
"Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike". You can get a
friendly summary (known as commons deed) @
http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/1.0/

  I hope this clears up Luxor's non-commercical (GPL)
licensing.
