Hi y'all !

If any of you has experience writing (luxor-based) web
start application connecting to a DB backed J2EE
server in an internet (not intranet) environement, I
would be interested in hearing from your feed back.

Indeed, internet is not just slow bandwidth-wise, it
is also very slow latency-wise (at least two order of
magnitude higher, ie a ping roundtrip to yahoo.com
takes 300ms, whereas a ping roundtrip to fileserver
next floor takes 1 ms). And this latency make writing
db oriented rich client application much harder than
in a intranet environment...

Right now I am experiencing a model inspired by
Jakarta Struts, where the server first prepare the
whole Model (in the MVC meaning of the term) before
sending it as a java serialized object stream. It is
based on http for firewall friendliness and is
stateless on the server side (no asynchronous
notification yet...).

I you have any feed back, comments on such a type of
project, I'll be very happy to hear from you ! :-)

Thanks!

Denis
