Hi,

I just stumbled over the announcement for today's
Luxor XUL talk at the Seattle Area (SEA) JUG @
http://www.sosnoski.com/jxml

  If I may quote:

Nimret Sandhu will present on the Luxor-XUL XML-based
GUI design tool. Luxor-XUL uses XML to describe the
layout of client side UI components, and provides an
API to access the layout and manage it from Java
objects. Although based on the XUL user interface
specification developed by the Mozilla project, Luxor
goes its own way in many respects. That's caused
considerable controversy in some XML circle lately,
especially as the main author of Luxor insists on
using "XUL" as a generic term for any XML-based layout
description format.

Nimret's one of our regular presenters at the Java-XML
SIG, and he always comes up with a hot topic for his
presentations. In this talk he'll ignore the political
issues of "Luxor-XUL" and instead focus on the
practical aspects of working with Luxor. He'll cover
installing Luxor-XUL, using the tools it comes with,
and creating both Swing and SWT GUI applications with
Luxor. Is XML-based GUI layout the wave of the future
- or a washout? Come judge for yourself.

Let's hope Nimret puts the slides online.

  - Gerald
