In the beginning, we wanted MX4J to be as lean as possible: one jar and that's it. We choose to reimplement on our own the logging for example, exactly to avoid dependencies with commons-logging or log4j. The HTTP adaptor was born under the same circumstances. My view now is that I can accept one or more jars to have some more aces in my sleeves by using a J2EE web container and full possibility for HTTPS, security, internationalization, JNDI and so on. Will post details later, when I have figured out how to configure Jetty easily.
