Category: JSR 160 Implementation
Group: Release 3.0.1
Status: Closed
Resolution: Fixed
Priority: 5
Submitted By: Florent BENOIT (fbenoit)
Assigned to: Simone Bordet (simonebordet)
Summary: IIOP / ORB.init
Initial Comment:
Hi,
Instead of recreating an ORB object in class
mx4j.remote.resolver.iiop.Resolver in method getORB(Map
environment), it could check that the environment
object contains "java.naming.corba.orb" property, then
it returns the ORB object with something like : (ORB)
environment.get("java.naming.corba.orb");
(there could be a check on the object to check that it
is an ORB object. See JMX javadoc : "If the
java.naming.corba.orb attribute is specified and does
not point to an ORB, then an IllegalArgumentException
will be thrown.")
See reference of this property in JDK 5 javadoc :
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/api/javax/management/remote/rmi/package-summary.html
Thanks.
Florent.

Concerning the time frame, we can wait for the next tagged
version which can incorporate new bugs fix. For now we have
integrated a modified version of Mx4J including the fix of
this bug.
The expected time frame is in April.
Regards,
Florent

Sorry I have some network problem that does not allow me to
commit. Will do as soon as possible.
About a new MX4J release, I have a small preference in
waiting a little bit more to see if I can incorporate other
bugs.
Florent, do you have strong preference to have a new MX4J
version early, and what is your expected time frame for a
new release that incorporates this bug ?

Ok thanks but I didn't see a commit on mailing list
http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?forum_id=8088
Or in CVS at
http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/mx4j/mx4j/src/core/mx4j/remote/resolver/iiop/#dirlist
BTW, do you plan to do a new tag like MX4J_3_0_2 soon ?
Thanks.
