I would recommend to stick with 3.0.8, since 3.0.12 has had few issues
on its own (bad jar packaging). There is a copy of 3.0.8 in CVS (for
sure) and in the snapshot present in the website (if I remember well).

BTW, did you actually run 3.0.12, or just compiled ?
I am interested in knowing if 3.0.12 is stable enough or not.
