You can see more information about the Q-build. <http://qa.netbeans.org/q-builds/Q-build-report-200203010100.html> Contributions: * NetBeans Platform started !!! It was announced by Petr Hrebejk in this mail: <http://www.netbeans.org/servlets/ReadMsg?msgId=270168&listName=nbdev> The platform project is here to make the support for people building applications on top of NetBeans even better. The NetBeans platform should become a powerful modular framework for effective building of powerful modular applications. See the prototype webpage for the platform at: <http://core.netbeans.org/platform/index.html> * Refactorit Beta 0.6.1 was released. See full release info at: <http://www.netbeans.org/articles/refactorit_beta_061.html> Discussions: * Support or don't support? That is the question. ( JDK1.3 and JDK1.4) Mila Metelka initiated an interested thread about question of support both JDK1.3.1 and JDK1.4 in future release. He would like to use interface java.lang.CharSequence which is only in JDK1.4 (see thread <http://www.netbeans.org/servlets/ReadMsg?msgId=269985&listName=nbdev>). In a new thread <http://www.netbeans.org/servlets/ReadMsg?msgId=270935&listName=nbdev> were discussed aspects of using only JDK1.4 in future release both from developer and users point of view. It seems that it will be necessary to support both JDKs See: <http://www.netbeans.org/servlets/ReadMsg?msgId=272649&listName=nbdev> * Discussion about the VCS API <http://vcscore.netbeans.org/doc/VCSAPI.html> is still in progress: [nbdev] VCS API: <http://www.netbeans.org/servlets/ReadMsg?msgId=265869&listName=nbdev> [nbdev] VCS API - Commands: <http://www.netbeans.org/servlets/ReadMsg?msgId=265881&listName=nbdev> [nbdev] VCS API - variables: <http://www.netbeans.org/servlets/ReadMsg?msgId=265882&listName=nbdev> * Are you interested in VCS profiles? See discussion about distributing them as NBMs: <http://www.netbeans.org/servlets/ReadMsg?msgId=267485&listName=nbdev> * Diff module is part of NetBeans 3.4 release. Discussion about Diff module API is available here: <http://www.netbeans.org/servlets/ReadMsg?msgId=260814&listName=nbdev> * Richard Gregor updated Install Support UI Spec for NetBeans 3.4 at <http://installer.netbeans.org/index.html> See further discussion: <http://www.netbeans.org/servlets/ReadMsg?msgId=269982&listName=nbdev> * Jan Pokorsky updated settings proposal <http://openide.netbeans.org/proposals/settings/index.html> Join the discussion at <http://www.netbeans.org/servlets/ReadMsg?msgId=271285&listName=nbdev> * Currently it's possible to install modules without IDE restart if it will be possible - if module is new and it's nbm doesn't contain /lib or /bin directories. See thread for details. <http://www.netbeans.org/servlets/ReadMsg?msgId=271707&listName=nbdev> * On nbui alias was placed a proposal about eliminating "GUI Editing" and "Running" workspaces <http://www.netbeans.org/servlets/ReadMsg?msgId=272098&listName=nbui> This issue of NetBeans Weekly News was brought to you by Jiri Skrivanek.
