I am pleased to announce the appointment of Zaheda Bhorat as the Sun
member of the NetBeans Governance Board.

Zaheda has been successful in developing and advocating open source
communities and technologies through her work managing OpenOffice.org,
the open source office suite (http://www.openoffice.org) in her former
role at Sun Microsystems. She developed one of the first community-
based open source global marketing projects that significantly raised
visibility and awareness of OpenOffice.org and open source to many new
users.

Zaheda has Since joined the Sun NetBeans.org team with responsibility
for community development and marketing. Although she has an
engineering degree, Zaheda is primarily a marketing diva as she
prefers to work with the people in developing a community to further
and promote the technology, rather than develop the code herself.

Prior to Sun, Zaheda has held positions in Europe and the US with
companies such as Apple Computer, GE and British Telecom in building
various online consumer and developer communities, and promoting cool
technologies. She recently managed the NetBeans Chinese launch in

October and is excited at the prospect of growing our user base
globally.

Her vision is an active global ecosystem for NetBeans consisting of
developers, users, marketers and partners working together as one
community to innovate, develop, evangelise, educate, use and support
the NetBeans technology, positioning NetBeans as a leading open
source Java development technology worldwide.
