Sun's Open Letter to Eclipse

Hello Everyone,

I wanted to give all the members of the NetBeans community some=20
information on something you will likely see today in the news.  As=20
many of you know, IBM is in the process of restructuring the Eclipse=20
open source organization and will soon announce some changes.  We at=20
Sun, as Stewards of the Java platform, are hopeful these changes will=20
be positive for the Java community.  However, Sun continues to receive=20=

many questions from press and industry analysts on the relationship of=20=

NetBeans, Eclipse, and Java.

Today, Sun will publish an Open Letter to the Eclipse community.  This=20=

letter is intended to communicate several points.  These include:

o Sun will not be joining the Eclipse Foundation:
But we maintain an open dialog w/Eclipse

o Sun remains steadfast behind NetBeans technology:
NetBeans remains the basis for our tools strategy
and tools investments =96 but are still willing to
work with Eclipse to develop joint APIs

o Java is as strong as ever:
Java is about diversity, competition and Choice.
