We're always looking for editors to help out - contact [email protected] Please send news contributions to [email protected] ------------------------------------------------------------------------ NetBeans 3.3 will probably slip a bit. Subject:[nb 3.3] IMPORTANT: schedule change proposal URL: <http://www.netbeans.org/servlets/ReadMsg?msgId=114276&listName=nbdev> The beta version of the NetBeans 3.2.1 should be created soon. We hope that once it is out people will test it to see whether their modules work with it and whether it's usability is a bit better than the of 3.2 was. Subj: [nbdev] [3.2.1] Let's create the beta URL: <http://www.netbeans.org/servlets/ReadMsg?msgId=112267&listName=nbdev> The chase for better performance continues. You can watch the effort for example in following threads: Subj: [nbdev] PERF: -Xverify:none and -Xms24m used by default URL: <http://www.netbeans.org/servlets/ReadMsg?msgId=112228&listName=nbdev> Subj: PERF: still 22,000 exceptions during startup URL: <http://www.netbeans.org/servlets/ReadMsg?msgId=112238&listName=nbdev> Subj:[nbdev] PERF: Clipboard.getContents() is very expensive on Unix URL: <http://www.netbeans.org/servlets/ReadMsg?msgId=113060&listName=nbdev> People are still looking for an UML tool tightly integrated with the NetBeans IDE and they are of course looking for features like all UML diagrams supported, round trip engineering etc. Is it a good idea to write UML support from scratch? Subj: [nbdev] IDEA UML Tool URL: <http://www.netbeans.org/servlets/ReadMsg?msgId=112535&listName=nbdev> Or should we rather use the tool which is probably the closest to these targets: Poseidon based on the ArgoUML tool. Subj: [nbusers] New Release of Poseidon for UML, improved integration in NB + FFJ URL: <http://www.netbeans.org/servlets/ReadMsg?msgId=112022&listName=nbusers> From the UI area: Are you interested in which key does what in NetBeans? If so you have probably the last chance to influence the default shortcuts. There is final call for comments on proposal how to resolve some shortcut conflicts. Subj: [nbusers] FINAL CALL - Shortcut conflicts - Proposed Solutions URL: <http://www.netbeans.org/servlets/ReadMsg?msgId=113004&listName=nbusers> Ever thought about what are all the purposes of a .jar file and what is the best way how to work with them. Subj: [nbui] User View and UI Design for Jar File Editing in NetBeans 3.3 URL: <http://www.netbeans.org/servlets/ReadMsg?msgId=111417&listName=nbui> There was also a thread about how to change the mount dialog. Will it work with the new projects implementation? Subj: [nbui] mounting filesystems URL: <http://www.netbeans.org/servlets/ReadMsg?msgId=111720&listName=nbui> What happened in the area of the OpenAPIs: Yarda provided new more effective way hoe to register DTD's in the IDE. Subj: [openide-dev] DTDs - new preferred way how to specify them URL: <http://openide.netbeans.org/servlets/ReadMsg?msgId=112551&listName=dev> First version of the annotation API was checked in by David Konecny. We can't await the even nicer editor. Subj: [openide-dev] first version of Annotation API is in CVS URL: <http://openide.netbeans.org/servlets/ReadMsg?msgId=111207&listName=dev> Attention they always remove something you like. Should the ICE browser go out of the release? Subj:[nbdev] should ICE browser go away? URL: <http://www.netbeans.org/servlets/ReadMsg?msgId=113073&listName=nbdev> Will the ObjectBrowser go? Subj: [nbdev] What about dropping the ObjectBrowser from the release URL: <http://www.netbeans.org/servlets/ReadMsg?msgId=114233&listName=nbdev> ------------------------------------------------------------------------ This issue of NetBeans Weekly News was brought to you by Petr Hrebejk.
