Hi all.=20 I'd like to echo Rick Henderson's sentiments about using Netbeans for = languages other than Java (in his case Javascript). Netbeans has been our = IDE of choice for Java students for years. Last year I embarked on a Ruby = on Rails project, and Netbeans has been gobsmackingly good as the = development environment even though it is relatively early days for = Netbeans Ruby support. One of the most impressive features is that = support for JRuby is transparent, and combining JRuby with Java is a = cinch. If you want to introduce a scripting language and/or a programming = framework (Rails) to your students which can be integrated with their Java = work this has to be one of the best ways. Of course for the Rails project = I use the Netbeans HTML editor, the XML editor, the version control = client, the database client, the template generators, the jar/library = manager, the debugger, the integrated Webrick server etc. Our students = already use most of these for their projects. =20 Some of our students concentrate on PHP - we will be looking very closely = at Netbeans new PHP support!
