Late last month, I pointed out [1] that the Governance Board elections
are more than one year overdue. Several people have written in to say
they supported electing a new board and nobody wrote in to oppose it.

Yet 10 days later, we're still no closer to holding those elections.
I therefore propose the following schedule:

March 3 (today): Nominations for board members begin

March 17: Nominations end and nominees contacted to confirm they'll
stand for election

March 24: Elections are held

March 28: Results confirmed, winners announced and new Governance
Board begins the six-month term.

Please let me know if you support this schedule, or if not, what you
propose instead (and why).

Hopefully someone from the NetBeans Web team (i.e. Oracle) will step
up and work with me to ensure we can use the netbeans.org Web site to
publicize the nominations/elections and to conduct voting as we've
done in the past. If that has not taken place by March 10, I will set
this up myself on my own server and contact this list with details.

I believe a functioning Governance Board is essential to the health of
the NetBeans project and it's definitely time to move forward to
ensure we have one.
