I appreciate your feedback, Armand. I certainly don't want to imply that NetBeans is not well-funded. Oracle has been very generous to continue employing many developers who work on the project full-time and we applaud their commitment. I'm simply making the point that the community may have interests which don't always align with their strategic plans (such as support for Android, Python, Scala, etc.) and we should make sure we're in a position to work on those things ourselves. NetBeans is an extremely valuable foundation on which to build new applications and tools. We all benefit when we can work together on making it better.
