Re: Proposal for extending the election term for the NetBeans Governance Board

I think this is a point well made.  Would not the existing board want to extend their term to enable them to continue without the hassle of the election coming up to distract them from achieving more of their objectives?

I like the idea of extending to 12 months.

I also wonder whether, in the case of an initiative that has only gotten traction toward the end of a term, but not completion, whether there is not already the implied expectation or possibility that those involved would continue to be available regardless of their no longer holding an elected post, to see the work to completion? (provided, I suppose, that this does not conflict with the newly elected peoples plans and limit those continued activities to an agreed scope).  Such a provision may seem to complicate things a little, but, it would at least provide a way to get completion of objectives regardless of election schedule vs progress, or until some type of agreed hand-off can happen?

Great idea.

If there's enough consensus (and no objections) why not extend the term
with this current board? I'm assuming there are current
initiatives/goals that could benefit from giving the current team the
additional 6 months to see things through.
