Edmunds.com is hiring for a Sr. Software Engineer.  The Sr. Software 
Engineer is responsible for maintaining and improving the Edmunds.com 
suite of software products; develop core service and application 
enhancements to improve execution, usability and manageability of 
Edmunds' consumer web site.

Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

*Design and develop new applications and functionality using the latest 
J2EE, Open Source, and Web 2.0 technologies
*Work closely with Project Management, Software Development, QA and 
Production to coordinate product releases
*Provide application-level troubleshooting and problem resolution, 
engaging technical peers and customers as needed

Requirements:

*Must have a minimum of 5 years experience developing and supporting 
enterprise grade software applications involving JAVA, O/R Mapping 
products such as Hibernate, Spring, Struts / Tiles, and database components.
*3+ years experience with application-level troubleshooting and problem 
resolution, engaging technical peers and the business customer as required
*Experience with concepts and implementation details for building 
distributed, large-scale, enterprise caliber software; including 
application and network security, clustering, load-balancing and 
failover, database access and query optimization, EJB Session Beans and 
related design patterns, Portal, BPEL and Web Services
*Experience with designing and implementing RESTful web services, you 
should know the difference between JSON and XML and know how WS-service 
is different than a REST service and why.
*Ability to diagnose runtime performance and other errors using thread 
dumps and other black arts.
*You should know what the difference between a parallel garbage 
collector and a concurrent mark-sweep collector and how it affects 
application performance characteristics.
*Knowledge of Domain Drive Design and basic design patterns.
*Familiarity with OSGi
*Familiarity with JavaScript and emerging JavaScript frameworks such as 
YUI and Dojo.
*You should know your way around a UNIX system and not be afraid of 
writing ant scripts or custom targets.
*Comfortable in a fast-paced technology environment and the ability to 
multi-task attention across several projects or issues
*Proven track record of successfully learning applications architecture 
and integration
