Had a look at the Eclipse SSH code this evening. Looks good.

In fact, it would be trivial to take the code I had written and replace
the references to the non-public Mindterm library with the Eclipse library.

The only drawback is that the Eclipse code currently only supports
password authentication.

Doing this would be interesting - it is a frequently requested feature
but would Sun ship it with Forte? Are they allowed to?

This would be an important test of open source in big corporations.

Could they stomach:

a) a competitor using code they created [IBM perspective]
b) taking code from a competitor [Sun perspective]

In many ways it is quite sad that IBM decided to reinvent a CVS library
for Eclipse. Given the similarities in design they obviously don't think
that ours is rubbish (and I don't believe for a moment they didn't look
at it) but they spent time creating their own anyway. If they had
invested that development effort adding (say) key authentication to
their/our SSH implementation we might all have benefited.

Any comments, Eclipse CVS developers? I know you're out there!
