Re: Problem with updating and checkout under Tomcat 4

NullPointerException. The code block you provided checks whether
something is null, then tries to access it. This will cause an npe. 

Not sure why your code doesn't work in tomcat 4. Since the exception
has something to do with creating a file on unix, you probably have
the 'localPath' on the client set to something funny.
