Hi Stephane, you have to use UML 1.3 metamodel with JMI tags to be able to instantiate it. Please see http://mdr.netbeans.org/metamodels.html. There you will find more info as well as the XMI diff files with JMI tags for UML 1.x and other metamodels. After you will load UML 1.3 metamodel with JMI tags, you should be able to instantiate it and import UML 1.3/XMI 1.x files (yes, XMI 1.0 is supported).
