Hi Eric,
I am sorry but this is not possible. If you want to store MDR objects 
differently, you can create your own implementation of the storage SPI 
that can be found in org.netbeans.mdr.persistence.
Currently there are 3 know implementations of this - b-tree (used by MDR 
by default), memory (transient in-memory impl.) and JDBC - contributed 
to the MDR project by John Sichi.
