Status of Netbeans Platform?

I thought I have supplied a fairly minimal application that shows the behavior.

The thing with the docking framework is that it doesn't run standalone, you always have to build a runnable application around it with a bunch of TopComponents. Otherwise you don't get enough windows to show the behavior.

I'd love to write a small unit test, but this is not a single method failing, but a combination of features not working together as expected.

That being said, if it provides value to someone, I'll gladly take another shot at reducing the application further without making it non-runnable. For starters it would be cool to have someone simply download it, run it and say whether he can reproduce or not.
