Get current configuration / active maven profiles of a specific project

When a maven project is selected, then the current configuration drop down
boxon the toolbar,  fills with possible profile(s).

Is it possible to get the currently selected profile? Or in other words, to
get the current configuration and check if "default" is selected, a
specific profile or a "configuration" with more than one profiles?
