Re: Ship with most modules disabled?

Following is a somewhat related problem but of a different kind:

I have two modules which are mutually exclusive. I would like to launch Netbeans say through a .bat file for each so that I only see the module I want at the time. Each module have its own look customised through its layer file. 
So what I really need is to be able to set the list of module required to be started each time I launch the netbeans (say through a batch file). 
Also required in such case is the ability to launch the other set of modules while the netbeans is already running, and if two modules that define their own look exist, a menu item to switch between these modules should appear.

Any way I can do this presently???

  - Make it easier to download modules on the fly (i.e. don't make it explicit that you need to download them, but the first time a user turns out a feature that ships disabled by default, download and install it for him automatically)

  - For a lot of these other features, such as web support. Is there a way to separate module initialization from module usage? I mean, the only thing a module would need to initialize is its visible components. So I should be able to mount a CVS file-system for example, but maybe the CVS module is not actually enabled/loaded until there is at least one mounted CVS file-system. See what I mean? It would be a further level of lazy initialization that maybe would yield faster startup results.
