Mount plugin in NB4.0

The update system's summary of the "mount" plugin concludes with:
"De gustibus non disputandum est." ("There is no disputing with taste.")

That is an unnecessarily snide and sarcastic comment.  The comment obviously 
hearkens to the lively debate here about the merits of the old (3.6) "mount" 
system, which many of us liked, and the difficulties of the new "project" 
system, which leaves a significant fraction of former netbeans devot'es out 
in the cold.  Apparently the netbeans developers have reduced our sound 
engineering arguments in favor of some of 3.6's strengths down to mere "taste".

I regret deeply that the formely open and welcoming culture of the netbeans 
project has devolved into this sour, contemptuous disregard for the will, 
recommendations and enthusiasm of its user base.  Apparently the lip service 
paid to "user feedback" is a sop designed to make us feel good while the real 
avenues of communication have been blocked.  Now the netbeans developers crow 
about how they've given us what we want with this plugin, while 
simultaneously revealing their real attitude towards at least some of their 
user base.

Come on, guys, open up a little.  Let go of the sarcasm and contempt and get 
the message: there is a real usability issue and some really good suggestions 
on how to deal with it.  You should listen to folks like Qintian Wang and 
Silvio Berman, among others.  (Please forgive me if I misspelled your names 
or otherwise erred.)  Many people have been wooed by version 3.6 (see, for 
example, the raving praise from "hireme" on 22 July), but they aren't likely 
to remain fans if the problems with 4.0 aren't resolved.
