Why huge Ant files?

I'm just migrating to NetBeans 4.0 and starting to deal with it's
pecularities. The first that struck me was the huge Ant file that's
generated for a new project. I'm used to coding my Ant files by hand,
and can usually get all the tasks I need, even for a large project, down
to at most 15. I'm also used to frequently running ant tasks from the
NB IDE by clicking on the task name. This new huge task list will make
that much more difficult.

What do I do? Can I still use my old Ant files? From what I've read of
the documentation, all those excessive tasks are necessary for NetBeans
to run. Can I get rid of some of that junk?
