Open source Java source editor

Hi,
I need a freely usable Java editor for my application
which gives the user the option to write small scripts
in Java. Basically all the functionality I need is
syntax coloring. Can I use the source editor of
NetBeans for this purpose and distribute it free of
charge with my application? If I can, how much time
and effort will it take? Are there any other tools
that you may recommend?
