Non-editable methods when using Design module

Hello,
 
I want to create a simple GUI for an old application I made. So I 'd try to use the Design module from NetBeans. After a short experience I have two questions:

   if you want to use the Design module how you can modify by hand the generated code. I understand well thatthe Design module won't be able anymore to display itbutI cant find a method to edit this code (surely, I can du that in a different IDE).
   Do you know where could I find a tutorial about the GUI creation using NetBeans?
