Netbeans Maven Plugin Error

I am using the Maven Plugin within Netbeans 5.0 and any time i try to build
a project, I get:

javax.xml.parsers.FactoryConfigurationError: Provider
com.sun.org.apache.xerces.internal.jaxp.SAXParserFactoryImpl could not be
instantiated: java.lang.NullPointerException
