Re: Too many editor tabs?

I think this is a good idea. It would allow me to forget what is open and
what not ( Garbage err buffer collection. ) . However as somebody has 
already mentioned in this thread, there could be ( I would say there 
should be  ) a mechanism to get back to a closed file without me knowing
it was closed to complete the effect.

The search mechanism in the project window is ... ummm ...
limited. It won't search the entire tree but only the opened
nodes. IMHO it is half useful; too many open nodes are clutter,
but closed you can't search them. 
This brings the problem of navigating closed or not yet
opened files. Better leave it for another thread. 

As for the navigation window ... 
I find it  a little too big. I would like the old combo for 
method navigation back. Something like that could be
used for the buffers. 
Take the editor's toolbar buttons away ( does anyone 
use them? ) and put there both combos ( method and buffer ).

And to throw ideas to the mix: I used jEdit quite a while and it 
had ( has ) several mechanisms. A combobox, a button strip, 
tabs, and a popup dialog among them. You could use all of them 
or none of them.

In defense of the tabs and the button strip I must say that
I find useful to have a way to tell where am I by taking a 
glimpse at the tabs. This, however, requires that I keep 
recently used tabs grouped to be really useful.
I know you can do this with Ctrl+tab but ... not just 
by taking a glimpse ( call me lazy ) .

Whatever you do, please, make it optional, just set a 
default but don't take it away.
