It could, probably. (Not possible for the project itself to control this 
but it may be possible for the Ant module to implement it.)

Not a lot, I think - by default only one Ant output window is kept open 
at a time (unless there are multiple concurrent live Ant processes), so 
at most one tab would get closed, and as things are the tab will get 
reused when you next do an Ant build/run anyway.
