How to enable a status line in a Rich client Application

Hello all,
I'm a novice in Netbeans Rich Client Development. I'm using 5.5beta and 
I don't find a way that my application displays a status line. Isn't 
there a netbeans standard way to do it?

By the way: Is there a good documentation about Rich Client Development 
in Netbeans available ? "NetBeans IDE Field Guide" is too smattering to 
help someone getting started.
