Colored editor tab enhancement suggestion

I am often working (in Netbeans 5.0) with multiple projects open. And some some files between projects have the same or similar names, such as Maven 'pom.xml' files. I think a nice enhancement would allow the user to associate a color with a project, and all files opened to edit windows from that project would pick up that color in the 1) tab background or 2) a colored [square behind/box around] the icon or 3) a color block badge overlaid on the icon. Then as I compare and refactor between projects, I could easily distinguish between similar or same named tabs and pull-down menu entries. I think the tabs are wordy enough that adding the project name as text would greatly detract from their usability. So I think a color cue would be the best approach. -Ken -- = Enterprise Data Services Division =============== | CIRES, National Geophysical Data Center / NOAA | = [email protected] ===========================
