starter Netbeans on Ubuntu (linux). Program won't run

I have just completed the "GUI Building in Netbeans IDE" course and the "Adding Functionality to Buttons: A Beginners Guide" course. Making the form and its components works fine. Running the *.java file also works. But when I try to run the project from de IDE menu or from prompt, just nothing happens. No screen, no messages, no nothing. I'm running Netbeans IDE 5.5.1 on Ubuntu 7.10 (Linux) with Sun-Java-6.
