So, another update.  We discussed this today and
realised it doesn't make sense to "enforce" a jpg
file type for all modules, just because it happens
to work best for our default module icon.  So :

1) for now, I have rolled back to .jpg for the default
    module icon;

2) Marek will move the appropriate chunk of html from
    global webmacro templates into each module's

    $module/www/left_nav.html

    so that each module can control the filename/type
    as they wish.

Attached is a jpg of the translated files icon our graphic
designer made - I'm not sure if you have this version
already (it is not new).  It is only 1.5k in size.

If you save it as "module_icon.jpg" in the root of the
translatedfiles module, it will be used right now. Once
Marek has completed step 2) above you can change this
to png or any format you like ...
