There were some explanations from Sourceforge (which I saw copied on some other lists) that their CVS servers are basically way overloaded. Apparently theya re adding new hardware to take careof things, but only around August. In the meantime, I think they moved anonymous users to separate access from committers, and the former end up having pretty intermittent access due to the loaded. Every SF repo I've tried to hit (anonymously) the last few weeks has been horrible. Basically hit or miss. The only thing I can say about java.net is, although I presume the load would be pretty light at first, what makes you think they could scale any better?
