After looking into the clustering support package source (specifically, the AbstractBroadcastingListener and the ClusterNotification), it looks like a relatively easy addition to synchronize not only flushes but adds/updates as well.

Reading the documentation, it sounds like the decision to only replicate the flush events across the system stems from mainly a performance mindset.  Clearly, there would be some tricky issues in synchronizing separate caches, but in general, where there any major technical roadblocks preventing OSCache from being fully synchronized out-of-the-box?  Was it tried at some point, but the performance was sufficiently horrible that it was dropped?  Extending OSCache is something we're looking at, but if other groups have already been unsuccessful, we certainly want to learn from their experiences.
