I can't use 1.5 features until we get WLS upgraded to 9.2, and this won't happen for some time, so I'm stuck with the old ways for a while longer.

In a nutshell, I execute these WW actions from both FTL UI templates and SOAP services, and the SOAP side of the equation restricts me from using Java collections and maps in my request POJO's. I also generate my requests via an XSD generator, and it prefers to generate arrays as well.

Like I said, I've got a hacked up way of converting XW Lists to the arrays I need, but it would be nice if XWork could convert these by default, either through a temp List or a size parameter. The XW conversion engine seems to have most other scenarios covered but this one.
