Did you read the information on the page I recommended ? What part do you not get ? Try reading Martin Flower's article on IoC/DI: http://www.martinfowler.com/articles/injection.html, it should give you some insights.

Now, as for the Spring recommendation: we prefer spring now instead to handle the injection. There are quite some threads on this forum about it.
