I personally have used openamf with java 5 and tomcat 5.5 in the
past--no problems.  Currently my company is on Java 5 and Tomcat 6.

Your error looks more like a tomcat configuration issue to me, and
unrelated to openamf.   I would recommend checking out tomcat specific
forums.
