Since I have not been able to test this project inside the IDE, I have
been using other methods  of debugging. Adding the
NetDebug.initialize() and having the NetDebugger swf open in the
player made what was going on very obvious.

Thanks for your answer. I suppose what I am doing with slice is a good idea,
