I don't think I know of anything inside of OpenAmf to indicate it's loaded. I'm sure that it would be fairly easy to extend say DefaultGatewayServlet, provide an init method to set whatever context or global variables you wanted. However this isn't completely accurate, the web server is free to destroy and restart servlets as it's needed (e.g. on a major exception).
