A problem with derby database in openjms

Hi,every one.I have install openjms in linux, and the database which is used
by openjms is derby. 
when my program send and receive message by openjms,I want to see the
messages table in openjmsdb.
but the openjmsdb is derby database,I try to connect the derby database
which is used by openjms in linux,
and I was failured.
please tell me how to operate the derby database with openjms in linux
Operation System if you know.
